Peripatetic Library and Information Advisor (Based at Bury St Edmunds but covering other libraries in the area)

Suffolk Libraries is an independent and charitable society which now runs Suffolk’s library service.

We make life better for thousands of Suffolk people by expanding knowledge, stimulating creativity and fostering a sense of community.

We are looking for a Peripatetic weekday Library and Information Advisor to be based around the county. This role will be nominally attached to Mildenhall library but with the expectation of deployment to a contained number of libraries in an area to fulfil a relief need. This is a role which involves regular and last minute travel to other libraries.

Please be advised that this role requires a driving licence and access to a vehicle.

• Has an aspiration to deliver great customer service
• Can demonstrate appropriate and effective communication skills with the aim of building positive and supportive relations with our customers, team and community
• Can engage confidently with young people and is enthusiastic, keen and willing to deliver the programme of activities we offer including children’s activities and crafts
• Is IT literate and competent in the use of: the internet, email, mobile devices and applications and who could also offer guidance to customers
• Has the ability to work as an effective team member
• Understands Suffolk Libraries services and what it delivers
• Has the ability to be flexible to work across a specific geography within the county and is dependable
• Is resilient, self-sufficient and is comfortable working from a range of libraries

The position is for an average of 23 hours per week on the following work pattern;

Week 1 Tues: 09:00-17:00 Thurs: 09:00-17:00 Fri: 09:00-17:00
Week 2 Weds: 09:00-17:00 Sat: 09:00-17:00 Sun: 10:00-16:00

The rate of pay for this position commences at £11.44 per hour.
