Customer Service Assistant (Job ref: EXC046)
Salary: £17,519.68 pro rata'd (£23,151 per annum/ £12 per hour)
Number of vacancies: 2
Hours: 28 hours per week (see working patterns)
Location: Exeter Library

Interview date: Wednesday 4th September, at Exeter Library
Do you enjoy helping others? Exeter Library is seeking two dynamic Customer Service Assistants to join our team. We are more than just books—we are a committed community and cultural hub.
You will play a key role in helping customers at every stage of their lives to get the most out of our services. It’s hands on and full of variety, with no two shifts ever being the same! In a typical shift, you could find yourself:
- Delivering a friendly, personable service to customers whilst helping them with their diverse reading and information queries.
- Using your excellent IT skills to help customers access our digital library services and connect to the wider world through our customer PCs or their own devices.
- Delivering events and activities that inspire a love of reading, learning and creativity with customers of all ages, including the beloved Bounce and Rhyme sessions held every Tuesday and Thursday.
- Unleashing your creativity and develop your event planning and marketing skills by helping colleagues to plan and promote events and activities built with the local community in mind.
You don’t need qualifications or previous library experience to join us – we’ll give you all the relevant training you’ll need. It’s your passion for helping others, strong IT skills, and your excellent organisation skills that are more important to us.
