The Vacancy
We are looking for a committed and talented person to join our friendly and successful team as a Digital Inclusion Officer. This is a newly created to take on a new role that will make a real difference to people in Barnet. Evidence shows that being digitally excluded has a negative impact on people’s earnings, access to health care and social engagement.
You will be responsible for recruiting and supporting a team of Digital Champion volunteers and delivery of a programme of digital skills and get-online activities across the borough
You will be a proactive person who is happy to work with residents, build networks with partners and deliver hands-on practical help.
You will be organising promotional activities and representing digital inclusion support at events around the borough.
What you'll need to succeed?
The Digital Inclusion Officer will be responsible for providing targeted digital inclusion one to one support and workshops to Barnet residents to help them improve their digital skills. This will be achieved through the provision of training and learning programmes that will enable Barnet residents to be digitally included.
The Digital Inclusion Officer will also be in charge of involving residents in the design of the project, networking with community projects and organisations, recruiting volunteers to assist in the design of the project, troubleshooting with residents experiencing challenges and technical difficulties, and producing key performance indicators and reports.
The Digital Inclusion Officer will have extensive Digital Inclusion knowledge to:
-Manage the Barnet Digital Champions project ensuring adherence to compliance, health and safety matters, and quality assurance
-Recruit Digital Champion volunteers to sustain and enhance a network of 30 digital champions per year delivering support and skills training in Barnet
-Provide training and development opportunities to volunteers to sustain interest and enhance skills
-Manage the programme of digital skills workshops and on-board new locations for groups/sessions
-Host monthly network sessions for all champions and provide appropriate related 1:1 support, as required
-Create bespoke workshop material based on resident top learning priorities
-Provide digital skills training to Barnet residents to allow them to confidently access the internet to improve social, economic and health opportunities
-Recruit volunteers from the Barnet community to foster intergenerational learning and broaden the project's scope
-Create bespoke workshop material based on resident top learning priorities
-Troubleshoot any issues with Digital Champions
-Determine extra requirements, such as employment support, broadband or benefits for targeted content development
