Summary

The Head of Innovation Development will establish CUH as the most innovation- and invention-friendly institution in the NHS. Working closely with colleagues from across clinical-academia, professional scientists, and partners organisations, you will create an ecosystem that enthuses, incentivises and supports our staff to translate promising ideas into solutions that can transform healthcare at scale. This will include fostering a culture of innovation in which people at all levels of the Trust have access to information about the latest trends in healthcare technology and are able to share novel ideas for improvement. You will develop handbooks and pathways that help innovators navigate towards commercialisation, identifying the technical, regulatory and commercial support available and opportunities for funding. As a result, and over time, you and your team will make a substantial contribution to both the development of the Trust’s intellectual property portfolio and the local health economy.

We are looking for a candidate with exceptional interpersonal skills who is able to inspire others and work collaboratively, supportively and with perseverance to unblock the obstacles to the development of innovative initiatives. You will have deep experience of developing innovative solutions either in the private or public sector, and a strong understanding of the healthcare system. The ideal candidate will also have a good working understanding of the IP, regulatory and commercial factors involved in progressing innovation in the NHS.
