We provide a training and competency structure for all equipment, on-call and weekend working to support staff development. We provide monthly rotation specific in-service training, regular accountability as well as offering a range of role specific training opportunities.
The rotations offered at Southend Hospital are:

• Community & Intermediate Care rotations including early supported discharge teams for stroke and orthopaedics
As a Trust we recognise the individual development needs of our staff and so offer static band 5 positions to support physiotherapists who have identified their ideal career pathway, as well as offering traditional rotational positions.
This post would suit a newly qualified or qualifying physiotherapist who is seeking to commence their career in a friendly and supportive environment.
The band 5 physiotherapist will have responsibility for assessing and treating their own caseload of patients and maintaining the associated records. As an autonomous practitioner they will be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, delegating as appropriate to support workers.
Regular supervision is provided by experienced band 6 and 7 therapists and takes the form of formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, caseload discussion and formal clinical supervision sessions. The structure of the therapy teams at Southend ensures that there is always access to advice and support from a senior therapist.
The band 5 physiotherapist role involves active participation in the weekend/bank holiday working rotas and on-call service, once the required training has been competed.
