Lead Sonographer for the South West Fetal Medicine Operational Delivery Network will provide professional obstetric ultrasound expertise for the South West Fetal Medicine Network to ensure the provision of safe, effective and high-quality care for women and infants across the region.

The role will focus specifically on networking of Fetal Medicine services across the region and ensuring that women in the region are able to access the right level of care, in the right place at the right time in their maternity journey.

The postholder will provide clinical expertise as part of developing this new network area and support the overall work programme of the network, together with building, managing and maintaining strong and collaborative working relationships with all the key stakeholders across the networks and their member organisations.

The postholder will work closely with the Lead Midwife/Manager of the and the clinical leads of the network and will facilitate in all the relevant individual provider and commissioning organisations across the South West of England. The postholder will support the work of the Lead Midwife and act as a champion for patients within sonography and their interests, ensuring the patients' voice is at the heart of clinical network activities and patients are at the centre of network models of care and underpinning pathways.

The post holder will need to be proficient at building and maintaining excellent relationships and at fostering a culture of collaborative working. They will need to be structured in their thinking and able to organise, plan and execute a complex programme that spans a wide range of provider, commissioner and patient organisations. They will need the experience, skills and personal credibility to facilitate the bringing together of different perspectives. Given that the role will support transformation of the provision of specialist maternity services across the South West of England, they will possess the relevant experience and skills to be able to engage, design, facilitate and support the delivery of initiatives to improve services and redesign patient pathways
