Working as part of a dynamic, collaborative and friendly team, the successful candidates will deliver communications on a broad range of policy and operational areas spanning the Home Office.

The roles available cover media / press office. However, there may also be opportunities to deliver strategic communications, including paid-for, and no/low-cost campaign activity.

You will help to lead a team responding to calls from journalists, and shaping the news as it happens and though developing proactive announcements. You will be responsible for real-time media and social media monitoring and rebuttal, developing media handling strategies, identifying proactive opportunities and selling-in-stories.

You will also be responsible for providing swift and sound handling advice to Ministers and senior leaders; identifying inaccuracies or criticism, ensuring they are appropriately addressed; and ensuring the Home Office position is clearly reflected.

Important Information

  • Due to the nature of the work, these roles are available on a full-time basis only.
  • Successful candidates will be included in the out-of-office duty system, for which there is overtime pay.
  • In line with the Home Office’s hybrid working policy. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees are expected that team members spend a minimum of 60% of their hours in the workplace, with the remainder working from home.
  • This post can be based at offices in any of the locations listed but for some of the roles, significant travel will be involved, with frequent work within operational environments.
  • You will have responsibility for leading an effective team.
