Summary
EDUCATION AND TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in the programmes of education and training for all grades and disciplines of staff, both formally and informally, in clinical areas Participates in clinical supervision for registered nurses Advises patients and members of the general public on issues pertaining to Infection Prevention and Management Advises on general and specialised cleaning and decontamination techniques and associated issues. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES Undertakes evaluation of new equipment and techniques that pertain to Infection Prevention and Management Participates in departmental research projects and utilises available research of Infection Prevention and Management and selected aspects of general nursing which is compatible with, and advances the aims of the Infection Prevention and Management team Pursues a programme of continuous education in line with the Trust and current professional regulatory requirements. Updates professional knowledge through the attendance at meetings of specialist professional associations and relevant conferences. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Collects relevant clinical data for use by the Infection Prevention and Management and assisting with maintenance of records and statistics on hospital acquired infections Assists with the establishment and revision of policies relating to infection prevention and management with other members of the team. To undertake any other duties which may be designated by the Lead Nurse. Assume responsibility for delegated projects throughout the Trust
