We are looking for someone who is passionate about outdoor learning, sustainability and educating children about the world around them to join our team as Outdoor Learning Ambassador. The candidate needs to have a clear vision for innovate and devise imaginatively varied ways of teaching the forest / beach school experience for children of varied ages.
Job Role:
To organise and lead Beach School, Forest School and other outings across Archfield and Woodland House Nursery.
Lead and mentor other staff members in their outdoor learning practice and approach, this will include induction, peer observation and supervision.
To provide and maintain a high quality service to children and their families working as part of a staff team to meet children’s individual needs.
To safeguard children, promote their welfare and take responsibility for following safeguarding procedures.
Currently our pre-school children attend Forest or Beach School twice a week at Archfield and once a week at Woodland. Over 3 days of the week that rotate across the week. The Outdoor Learning Ambassador leads these sessions, supports to cover staff lunch breaks upon return and then spends time reflecting on the experience with the floor books in the afternoon. In times of need the Outdoor Learning Ambassador covers in the Pre-School and other rooms on non Beach or Forest School days.
Qualifications and experience required:
Essential
Forest School Level 3 Qualification.
Outdoor Paediatric First Aid Training.
Experience of working with children aged under 5.
Experience of providing outdoor play and learning opportunities for children.
Desirable
Beach School Level 3 Qualification
Full and relevant Level 3 or above qualification (Early Years)
Hours, Contract & Pay:
Minimum 3 days 21 hours a week – maximum 5 days 40 hours
Contract- permanent.
Up to £33,000 per annum, pro rata depending on hours worked in the week and experiences / qualifications.
Up to 36 days annual leave (after 5 years of service).
Parking permits available.
