Summary

Job Description

Reporting to the Group Manager the post holder will be responsible for management of the city’s street lighting assets

Leading a team of 17 Engineers and Technicians, responsible for the management of a significant Capital budget and circa £5M annual revenue budget. The postholder will provide leadership and the vision to transform how Street Lighting will evolve to meet Glasgow’s current and future needs.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

• deliver a cost effective, sustainable street lighting service to ensure the safety of road users.

• ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and recognised best practice.

• effectively manage the development, installation, maintenance and monitoring of the City’s street lighting network

• manage, direct staff and resources to deliver a City wide service in line with service targets and technical standards

• provide specialist professional advice relating to lighting and electrical engineering to senior management

• provide financial management of the street lighting function in line with funding provision and budgets

• lead the development of the City Lighting and Investment Strategies and programmes

• Monitoring of the service performance and spend against KPI’s and
budget.

• Ensuring that work practices, risk assessments, absence management
and disciplinary procedures are in line with council Policy.

• Collaboration with other council departments to ensure the Council’s
Strategic objectives are achieved.
