Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic mortuary professional with extensive experience who can lead the mortuary service, oversee the day-to-day management and development of the mortuary service across UHD.

The post holder will advise the Designated Individual on service improvement, manage highly sensitive licence activities and be responsible for the standard and quality of care for patients in the service. The post holder will also provide expert advice, coordinate training of mortuary staff, maintain and promote the professional image of the mortuary service.

The post holder must be an experienced Healthcare professional, preferably APT qualified or with extensive experience working at either band 5 in a NHS mortuary or mortuary related area. The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge and skills from working in a mortuary or end of life healthcare environment and will require a practical problem solving attitude. The candidate will be expected to manage and co-ordinate the Human Tissue Authority inspection visits and resolve any recommendations.

You will also need to have well developed communication, teamwork, effective staff management and leadership skills. You will need to be highly organised and have experience of Quality Management Systems and change management. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate effective management experience in staff management and mortuary related activities

An ability to recognise and implement quality, efficiency and productivity opportunities to enable service change and development, together with an experience of financial /budgetary management would also be desirable for this role.

The UHD mortuary services are currently licensed under the Human Tissue Authority as 12723 and provide storage prior to post mortem activity and the retrieval of samples for licensed activities within the trust. Although the mortuary does not participate in incisional activities, we pride ourselves in providing exemplary care for the deceased in our care. The newly created mortuary manager role will be expected to manage the governance and oversee license activities on behalf of the Designated Individual for post mortem services.

Base Location: Christchurch, Bournemouth or Poole Hospital sites, please note you will be require to work across site.
