Job Overview:

Join our team as a NR Assistant Examiner where you will play a crucial role in assessing and maintaining the integrity of various structures. Your work will ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards, all while prioritizing safety and meeting client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct site examinations of structures to assess their condition, adhering to the Alarm system and specified timelines.
Perform site examinations using roped access, if qualified.
Compile and submit detailed condition reports via the Alarm electronic system or other agreed processes for review by the Examining Engineers team.
Execute special examinations as directed, including assisting with monitoring schemes for sensitive structures.
Conduct reconnaissance visits to gather preliminary data.
Support the Examining Engineers team with specialist examinations of unique structures and tunnels.
Participate in on-call duties for rapid response situations, including handling bridge strikes.
Provide safety-critical site support as needed.
Collaborate with quality, safety, and environmental objectives, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Make observations and technical decisions within your competence.
Offer recommendations for consideration by the Examining Engineers team.
Take decisive action on site regarding immediate safety concerns, potential structural failures, and operational capabilities of structures, often under pressure.
Directly impact performance through the delivery of comprehensive examination reports.
Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

GCSE pass in English Language.
C&G/ NVQ Level 3 in any building construction trade (or equivalent relevant experience).
STE 4/ SCMI competency.
Ability to work independently.
Certification as a Bridge Strike Examiner.
Proficiency in IT, including word processing and drawing applications.
Valid drivers license.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable:

ONC/HNC level qualification or Technician Engineer (ICE).
Previous experience in the rail industry and knowledge of railway practices.
Certification as a Controller of Site Safety/Engineering Supervisor.
Confined Space Awareness/Training.
