Summary

The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join our technical services team who provide support to a wide variety of workshops and clinical facilities at our Westlakes Campus
The successful candidate will be primarily focused on supporting undergraduate classes and research within our state of the art clinical facilities. Duties will include the set up and preparation of clinical laboratories/workshops, providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and students studying a diverse range of subjects in the clinical and science areas.
The primary function of this role is to ensure delivery of a wide range of clinical courses. The successful candidate will help to coordinate and undertake maintenance and configuration of equipment and relevant software, as well as giving assistance with the introduction of new technologies, procedures, and practices. Familiarity with clinical instruments relevant to the disciplines will also be advantageous.
The successful candidate should have an A ‘level in a Science subject or equivalent experiential learning in a related discipline. They should also have experience of preparing, supporting, and clearing away clinical workshop/laboratory environments. Candidates must also have good verbal and written communication.
Experience in a customer facing technology support role is also desirable. Candidates need have a keen interest in science and technology, supported by great customer service skills. The ability to adapt knowledge and experience to support staff and students across the wide range of subjects and disciplines we support would be a distinct advantage. However, training and support will be provided for the successful candidate if necessary.
