We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated radiographer with excellent leadership skills and relevant experience to join our team in the Division of Imaging at MFT.
The post of X-ray lead radiographer at Manchester Royal Infirmary is an exciting and challenging role to help ensure the x-ray service at MRI is delivered safely and effectively.
We are looking for a highly motivated radiographer with shared values to join our Imaging team. You will have extensive post registration experience and ideally some service management experience or experience of working at a senior level in a service or team.
A passion for high quality care and continually improving patient experience and quality is essential as are excellent interpersonal skills. We view leadership as key to our success; therefore you should be able to demonstrate this throughout the recruitment process.
You must be able to motivate staff to achieve high standards, and possess excellent communication skills to ensure that the aims of the organisation are achieved.
You will need to ensure that as well as providing clinical leadership, and taking responsibility for direct staff management and the running of the x-ray service, you have the ability to meet deadlines and the skills and desire to manage Radiology services within budget.
Duties include:
• Responsibility for managing the x-ray service at MRI, including the ED, inpatient, outpatient and theatre services for patients requiring x-ray imaging.
• Support senior colleagues and other management staff to deliver the Imaging services at MRI
• Provide management support and leadership to the radiographers working in x-ray at MRI
• Provide support and deputise for the MRI site lead as and when required.
• Work with the radiographers and Radiographic Department Assistants (RDAs) to ensure day to day operational service is provided in the most efficient manner possible.
• Organise staff to meet the required demand.
• Ensure any impact on the clinical service from any shortfalls of staffing is minimised.
• As manager of a distinct service continually seek ways to improve the provision of the service.
• Take a lead in implementing change that will result in service improvement.
• Participate in the recruitment process for relevant staff.
• Ensure skill mix and the best use of staffing resources are used to deliver the x-ray service and to support the x-ray reporting service for the reporting radiographers based at MRI

You should also be aware of competing pressures within hospital and Imaging services and be able to make decisions and prioritise according to clinical need and priority. In addition, the patients' needs will always be at the centre of any focus that you have.
