Summary
We are transforming DCMS to meet the demands of an agile, delivery-focused department leading on some of the highest priority work for the government’s agenda to drive growth, enrich lives and level-up society.
Our modernisation plans include critical investment in our systems, ensuring they are fit for purpose and reducing the manual input required, as well as the ongoing development of a new central function to transform the way DCMS uses technology, data and digital services.
We also want to transform how we solve policy challenges by using user centred design and collaboration with using multi-disciplinary teams.
As a DDaT Delivery Manager, you will get the opportunity to work in a range of projects across the department. You’ll be involved in the delivery of complex products and services. You’ll engage with policy officials to support the delivery of the department’s priority outcomes. You’ll be adept at breaking down barriers for your team or teams, and both planning at a higher level and getting into the details to make things happen when needed.
You will be pragmatic and have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a demanding, high profile environment. As well as being passionate about agile working, you will care about technology and know how to make projects succeed. You believe that how you work is as important as what you deliver.
You’ll have a range of DDaT experience and always be seeking to help upskill non-DDaT colleagues so they can become an ‘intelligent customer’ or service owner for the ongoing digital service in the future.
You’ll have experience of commercial, supplier and dependency management; this includes working with the sponsor team to ensure commercial contracts and suppliers are held to account for their timelines, value and quality.
As a Delivery Manager, you will:
- Manage complex products and services that are being discovered, defined and delivered by multiple teams, which have high technical and/or political risk.
- Lead, and continually improve, the development, release and provision of service of digital products, using lean/agile methods and techniques.
- Manage and communicate between complex stakeholder groups, using influence and awareness to balance key priorities, appropriately communicating and advocating both direction and change.
- Drive delivery momentum, solve issues and unblock problems, setting sustainable pace whilst ensuring teams are working towards delivery commitments. At times, this means being comfortable with accountability and uncertainty, and being the escalation point for internal and external issues.
- Work in multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating across all disciplines, using a thorough understanding of the variety of disciplines involved in digital delivery, including engineering, service design, product management, performance analysis and user research.
