Summary
To plan, promote and deliver an exciting, engaging programme of events, activities, workshops and installations to run alongside the daily markets.
To maximise the income of the Market in accordance with Council policy including identification of new income opportunities to ensure it is a sustainable venue in its own right.
To run the market effectively and in accordance with Council rules and procedures and meets the day to day high standards expected.
Cleanliness and maintenance – work with the Council’s Property team to ensure the market is clean and maintained effectively at all times
To hold prime responsibility for all aspects relating to finance, including preparing invoices, making up accounts, collecting monies, issuing receipts and banking monies.
To prepare estimates, maintain budgetary control, performance reporting on KPIs and prepare reports for and attend Council Committees as required.
To work with the communications team and be responsible for the effective promotion of the market using a range of tools including social media; maximising its potential and audience reach.
To issue relevant licences to traders.
To be the Council representative at Traders Committee meetings.
Maintain effective and professional relationships with Elected Members, Council Officers, members of the public, traders, Emergency Services, Health & Safety Executive and the media.
To work with managers of other Council assets in the town to ensure that the role the market plays in the regeneration of the town centre as a whole is maximised. This will include attendance at Barnstaple Regeneration Board.
To fulfil any other task appropriate to the grade and position as may, from time to time, be required by the Place Manager (town centres).
To train and develop market staff including carrying out appraisals.
To ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and conduct risk assessments in relation to the working practice of the Pannier Market.
