Summary


The Performance & Information Manager will lead on developing reporting and dashboards to drive patient outcomes, Trust performance and operational excellence. Managing a team of analysts, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust meets all statutory requirements for reporting. This includes regular reviews and recommending ways of improving reporting including raising data quality issues.

· This role will support the head of Data Services in developing and delivering the Trust’s data strategy and manage a team of analysts to:
• Interpret and understand external guidance regarding metric definition,performance targets and data sets and ensure that reports are available to management that accurately reflect these targets and national guidance.
• Ensure that all external submissions, to NHSE and ICS are accurate an submitted within agreed timescales. Liaising with appropriate external colleagues.
• Promote data quality across the Trust.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and relationship skills with the ability to interact with a wide audience both internally and externally and able to pitch communication appropriately according to the anticipated audience.

Previous line management/supervision experience is essential as is experience of stakeholder management.

Key Task and Responsibilities
• Support the head of Data Services in developing and delivering the Trust’s data strategy.
• Interpret and understand external guidance regarding metric definition, performance targets and data sets and ensure that reports are available to management that accurately reflect these targets and national guidance.
• Ensure that all external submissions, to NHSE and ICS are accurate an submitted within agreed timescales. Liaising with appropriate external colleagues.
• Ensure an appropriate data response to national and SEL initiatives and guidance regarding performance and activity. Horizon scan for potential changes in key performance targets and so ensuring that the Trust is well placed to respond.
• Ensure that reports are available that accurately measure performance against all the Trust’s internal and external KPIs.
• Champion the roll-out of the dashboards and data to support improvement and work closely with directorate counterparts to develop and maintain a training programme for directorate staff.
• Triage information requests to ensure that resources are deployed for the overall benefit of the Trust.
• Promote data quality across the Trust.
• Plan and organise the work of the team with key stakeholders across the whole organisation to deliver complex integrated monitoring and analysis across multiple systems. Monitor and adjust strategies to meet the needs of stakeholders.
• Ensure regular engagement with service directors, business managers and key stakeholders across the Trust communicating external requirements and to understand the information needs of the directorate.
• Post-holder will be required to travel to other sites within the Trust as required. Some agile/hybrid working is feasible in this role.
Management responsibilities
• Manages, leads, motivates, and develops the Performance and Information analysts within the team. Ensuring the team are managed in line with the Trust’s HR policies to achieve high performance.
• Plans and organises the team’s workload to achieve departmental and organisational objectives.
• Responsible for carrying out staff appraisals in accordance with the Trust’s Personal Development Review (PDR) process. Identifying training needs and supporting staff development
• Responsible for the recruitment and development of high quality permanent and temporary business and analytical staff in their team.
• Liaises with directors and business and service improvement managers to ensure that that the team are effectively delivering their current reporting requirements.
• Budgetary responsibility for relevant area of the department budget
• Promote a ‘customer focused’ approach within the team
Leadership
• Reports to the Head of Data Services
• Actively contributes to service improvement and provides coaching to colleagues as needed ensuring their team members have the right level of skill sets for their role.
• Is pro-active in identifying new technology and ways of working to ensure the Trusts data needs are met.
• Support and deputise for the Head of Data Services

Communication
• Good communication and relationship skills are a key, essential component of this role.
