Summary
This is a clinical community role to ensure women living in the London Borough of Lambeth receive support and information to allow them to choose their method of feeding their babies and to successfully feed their babies in their chosen method.
To facilitate a specialised infant feeding service for women who are experiencing difficulties or challenges establishing breastfeeding.
To facilitate face to face, one to one consultations, groups and telephone support in the community hubs and children centres.
To work with the acute and community breast feeding coordinators to implement strategy to maintain UNICEF BFI status and reaccreditation including support with BFI mother and staff audits.
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, good management and organisational skills.

Summary of Post
· Clinical role to ensure all community women receive support and information to allow them to choose their method of feeding and continue to successfully feed their babies in their chosen method
· To act as the community infant feeding midwife in Lambeth, too support staff (midwives and allied professionals) to enable mothers to carry out their choice of feeding in a sustainable and effective manner
· To work with the Acute and Community Breastfeeding Coordinators to provide specialist infant feeding training in Lambeth for staff including health visitors and members of the health service who may be in contact with new mothers such as GPs
· To work in conjunction with the Acute and Community Breastfeeding Coordinators to implement a strategy for maintain UNICEF BFI status and reaccreditation, including support with BFI mother and staff audits
· To provide expert and professional support for staff and women by demonstrating a commitment to best practice in breastfeeding
· Facilitate a specialized infant feeding service for women who are experiencing difficulties or who have particular challenges establishing breastfeeding
· To facilitate face to face, one to one consultations, groups and telephone support in the community hubs and children centres
