Crynodeb

As our commitment to developing our workforce, we are delighted to provide Apprentice Nursing Associate (Previously known as TNA) programmes for aspiring candidates at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

We have a great opportunity to undertake this exciting two-year apprenticeship programme as a Apprentice Nursing Associate, leading to a Level 5 qualification and eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nursing Associate.

This role requires you to practice the National 6 C’s of Care, Compassion, Communication, Commitment, Competence and Courage which outline the professional values, behaviours and commitment to continuously deliver a high standard of education and care to our patients.

Successful applicants will hold the National Care Certificate, as well as certificated evidence of English and Maths GCSE Grade C or 4 or above, or Functional Skills Numeracy and Literacy Level 2. Ideal candidates will also have demonstrable experience in a care setting as well as a level 2/ 3 in a Health and Social Care subject.

You will be employed for the duration of the programme as an Apprentice Nursing Associate and remain in a home placement for the majority of the time but will have a rigorous pathway of learning. The designated university will deliver the academic component of the programme and will work in collaboration with The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn to ensure that all work-based learning is delivered to a high standard.

The contract will require a minimum of 30 hours per week, during some of this time you will be expected to work as a Health Care Support Worker. The contract will also include 7.5 hours of protected supernumerary time and 15 hours per week of protected study.

You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Apprentice Nursing Associate within the service and through completion of the Apprentice Nursing Associate training programme which includes working in care settings and delivery of person-centred care.

There will be academic and work based assessments which will all contribute to the learning element of this 2 year programme to demonstrate your learning and skills in practice in accordance to the NMC and apprenticeship framework. Working under the direction of registered practitioners within multidisciplinary teams you will assist in the provision of care and support the users of the service with essential care needs.

There’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.

At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as ‘Good’, and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome. We love working here and think you will too.

Please see attached Job Description and Person Specification for further information about this role.

Once your application has been received it will be reviewed and you will be notified as soon as possible as to whether you will progress to the interview stage.

Interviews will be held face to face or virtually if required. You will be kept informed of this process and the panel will consist of representatives from the following – The designated University, College of West Anglia, Service User representative and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn. Please note you must be prepared to commence the programme in September2024.
