Summary

The post holder will undertake Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Personality Disorder (CBTpd) training with Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust starting in November 2024, within 6 months of commencement in the post. On successful completion of the course (within 24 months of commencement in training) the post holder will progress to a Band 7 post, as a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist for Personality Disorder. The post holder will provide CBT interventions for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder or difficulties aligned to this diagnosis. The post holder will work with a reduced caseload during the training period and will work within agreed primary care networks (PCNs), providing interventions for individuals across primary and secondary care pathways. The postholder will be supported within an established governance structure via the Trauma Informed Personality Disorder pathway within secondary care and Community Mental Health Transformation structures within the PCNs and will receive clinical supervision from a BABCP Accredited CBT clinician. The post holder will provide a high quality clinical service to the users of the service. Clinical oversight of all work will be held by the clinical supervisor within the workplace and in the university, and managerial responsibility is held in the TIPD Pathway. The job plan will be delivered in the services the post is based. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team while observing Trust and National policies and procedures. To provide cognitive behavioural therapy, initially during training for people experiencing mild to moderate common mental health problems, under the supervision of a BABCP Accredited CBT clinician, progressing to offer CBT to people with personality disorder as part of training within the post graduate diploma in CBT for personality disorder, over the course of 24 months. To exercise clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence based practice. To deliver excellent levels of care to people, and address or report, in a timely and proactive manner, where these standards have not been met. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of clients under their care and effectively evaluate progress. To work as part of a team to deliver person centred care whilst meeting the service standards and objectives. To provide risk assessment and intervention to people who present for treatment. To liaise and consult with the wider professional network in the care of the client. To work jointly with other team members in delivering the most appropriate clinical service to people and their families. To contribute to the audit processes within the service. To contribute to research in the service area. To undertake project management as required to aid service development. To continually seek to expand and consolidate clinical skills using training experience and supervision and apply continuous reflection on own practice. To utilise theory, evidence based literature and research to support evidence based practice of self and others. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients, under the supervision of a BABCP accredited CBT clinician.
