Summary

To complement our diverse and experienced Public Health and Primary Health Care Team, the School are looking for an individual who is an experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Health Visitor (HV) who can significantly enhance our student learning experience through teaching and continuing development of the curriculum.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will help to strengthen the links between our various programmes of study and our key stakeholders, in particular local Health Boards. The teaching staff team will share and promote good practice in teaching and aim to develop innovations in teaching methods to engage and inspire students.

This post requires a contribution to teaching and graduate supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and other programmes across the School where required, in addition to sharing organisational and academic administrative responsibilities.

Essential Criteria
1. Current registration as a SCPHN Health Visitor with the NMC on part 3 of the register.
2. A MSc degree in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Health Visiting (HV) or equivalent.
3. Current knowledge / experience of working within a community / primary health care setting.
4. A recognised teaching qualification is desirable.
5. Excellent knowledge and experience and a clear understanding of issues relating to clinical skills within Health Visiting practice.
6. The ability to design, deliver and adapt own teaching using appropriate style/method to meet the identified learning objectives across the subject area.
7. The ability to use innovative teaching methods including blended learning and simulation.
8. Evidence of teaching, mentoring or supervising students (in an educational and/or clinical setting).
9. Demonstrate awareness of current research in the field and / or current practice with a clear understanding of issues relating to Health Visiting.
10. Evidence of or ability to disseminate research findings both within and external to the institution.
