End Date: 3 to 6 months

About the Role:

The London Borough of Newham is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Facilities Officer to join our high-performing team at Folkestone Road Depot. This role is crucial in ensuring that the depot is compliant and well-maintained. The successful candidate will support the Building Services Manager in delivering efficient and effective facilities management services, including both hard and soft FM services.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Building Services Manager with the delivery of FM services and deputize in her absence.
Manage the in-house repairs service, supervising the maintenance operative, and performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
Supervise external contractors, ensuring safe working practices and satisfactory job completion.
Support major FM projects as directed by the Building Services Manager.
Conduct site inspections to proactively identify and address issues, ensuring health and safety compliance.
Monitor and control expenditure on building materials and FM consumables.
Conduct weekly and monthly tests on fire equipment, generators, hydrant pumps, etc.
About You:

Strong knowledge of delivering FM services in a pressurised environment.
Hands-on experience with repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, flooring, and minor electrics.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, using discretion and initiative.
Methodical and meticulous approach to planning and executing tasks.
Good knowledge of health and safety in premises management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to build professional relationships.
Customer-focused, with the flexibility to respond to service user requests and deliver excellent customer care.
Highly organized, able to prioritize work and meet conflicting demands.
Working Hours:

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (36 hours per week).
Must be willing to work late evenings and weekends as required, as the depot operates 24/7.
