Salary is pro-rata to the hours worked and is subject to pending job evaluation

14 hours per week

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Tutor who will work closely with the Learning Centre staff. You will be required to work as part of a team to ensure that learners within a prison learning environment receive high quality support and that individual needs and requirements are met.

You will be educated to SVQ Level 3/HNC or equivalent (SCQF Level 7) in a relevant field with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. You should also have a qualification in Supporting Adult Literacy Learners (SCQF Level 6) or other community based learning qualification or be willing to work towards one.

Good Communication and team working skills, as well as the ability to be professional, flexible and responsible are all an essential part of the role. You should also have experience of working with learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities and be able to motivate and engage learners.

This position is based within the Learning Centre in HMP Grampian, and as a result of this, the successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory in-house SPS Training, which includes classroom work as well as scenario based physical movements for self-defence purposes.
