The Vacancy – Credit Controller:

Due to continued business growth, we’re created a new role for a Business to Business Credit Controller. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership and responsibility for the entire debt management of Woodgate & Clark Group of Companies within the UK.

The Credit Controller will be part of the Finance team and will report to the Director of Finance, so you’ll also have dedicated support available to you from day 1. Additionally, you’ll be working closely with the Client Manager and Adjusters to understand our client relationships and to agree the best approach to debt recovery.

Our role will initially be offered on a 6-month temporary contract with a view to a permanent role of the right candidate. This will be on a hybrid basis if preferred, working from home 3 days per week, with the remaining 2 office based in Kings Hill, Kent.

What you’ll be doing

• Help define clear credit control process for all income streams within the Woodgate and Clark Group.
• Assess the current debt position and target your efforts accordingly.
• Communicate and embed the new process within the business.
• Compile a watch list, act and escalate to our Management and Loss Adjusters as necessary.
• Manage data across several systems.
• Prepare statements and reports for insurers and internal management.
• Respond to client enquiries.
• Liaise with customers, adjusters and secretaries.
• Resolve account queries and manage debt recovery.
• Maintain positive working relationships.
• Assist with Cashflow management.
• Support our business transition projects with new claims software integration.
• Always uphold Woodgate & Clark Limited Code of Business Conduct and Values.

About you

Our ideal applicant will come from an insurance or Loss Adjusting background, however candidates from a similar industry such as financial services and who are experienced in managing business to business relationships with debt recovery are welcome to apply.

Your role will involve working with spreadsheets as well as our own inhouse systems, so candidates must be experienced with Excel and confirmable working to at an intermediate level with data, formulas, and production of management information.

You’ll need to demonstrate and excellent track record in debt recovery, in conjunction with defining the best approach and process, to ensure our client relationships remain positive and customer centric. AAT, Chartered Institute of Credit Management or similar qualifications would be advantageous.

You’ll also have/will be:

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills – verbal and written.
• Process and IT efficient in using multiple systems.
• Experience of compiling meaningful reports and MI, ideally in a ‘one document’ format, internal support will be on hand if required.
• Confidence and persistence in equal measure and balance, being mindful of client relationships.
• Measured and calm under pressure.
• Exceptional numeracy skills.
• Continuous improvement and positive ‘can do’ mindset.
• Gains respect quickly, works well as part of a team with ability also to work on own initiative.
• Attention to detail.
