We have a brand new, fantastic opportunity for two Instructors to join the Department of Learning for Living and Work, specialist provision for young people with SEND at Barnsley College. No previous experience of teaching is required for this post, as we welcome applications from experienced and newly qualified candidates.

Our team of highly talented, professional and committed staff, provide education and emotional development support for over 100 students with Educational Health Care Plans. Our new Instructor will ideally have experience within a similar setting with young people or adults with profound and complex educational needs, although this is not essential as training and support will be provided. The department offers bespoke, accredited and RARPA educational programmes for young people from pre-entry to Level 1, which aim to progress students on to higher level study, future independence and the world of work.

We are looking for an Instructor with the passion and motivation to support students with SEND. You will work with classroom sizes of no more than 12 students, where Support Workers are present in every class to support students with their engagement, participation, motivation and behaviour. Our new Instructor will deliver a curriculum around developing life and employability skills at entry level, as well as practical Maths and English skills development. Some learners also have individual learning targets based on confidence building, community-based learning, practical activities etc.

We will provide the support and mentorship for the right candidate. We are looking for a professional where previous experience could have included working as - Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, HLTA or Primary School Educator.
