The Whittan Group is the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom. Operating through a number of
market leading brands; we design, manufacture and install storage solutions for commercial and industrial environments in the UK
and Europe.
We are looking for a Commodity Buyer to join our busy and growing organisation. The Commodity Buyer will support the Purchasing
Manager and Commodity Managers in the purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are
met, considering price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
Based at the Telford site with regular nationwide travel.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Commodity team in the development of product category by undertaking market analysis and research.
* Take accountability for a small product commodity to support development.
* Assist the Commodity team in data collection on supplier performance.
* Sending out Request for Quotation (RFQ) to supplier and collating responses to the stake holder.
* Support the Commodity team in critical path management for pre-production samples for new tender management.
* Manage invoice queries and resolve in agreed time scale.
* Produce and maintain information on supplier non-conformance.
* Liaise with suppliers on quality problems in conjunction with company quality standards and the NCR process.
* Support Commodity managers in collation of reports for suppliers
* Work with stakeholders across the business to analyse demand and system information.
Required experience/skills/qualifications:
* Have previous buying experience covering all categories.
* Have a hands-on approach with strong negotiation, writing and admin skills.
* Good communication and organisation skills.
* Strong analytical and organisational skills.
* Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure
Desirable experience/skills:
* Experience within a fast paced, multi-site procurement.
