Summary

Purchasing Manager

Our client, an engineering and manufacturing business in Dorset are seeking a skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to lead and develop a purchasing team. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, implementing procurement policies and systems, negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance, and strengthening the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of goods.

Responsibilities for Purchasing Manager

- Manage and develop a purchasing team to deliver optimum performance
- Provide strategic supply chain advice and guidance
- Implement procurement policies, systems, and plans
- Develop and manage budgets
- Strengthen the supply chain to ensure on-time delivery
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers
- Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
- Generate and analyse purchasing reports
- Committed to reducing lead times and continuous improvement
- Work closely with operations and production teams to meet their needs
- Manage targets and deadlines within the purchasing team

Qualifications for Purchasing Manager

- Able to demonstrate experience as a strong leader and man manager, having developed and nurtured a team
- Relevant qualification CIPS Level 4 or above or equivalent degree or MBA
- Proven experience in procurement and purchasing management
- Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience, Lean, Six Siigma, APQP, PPAP
- Strong negotiation and decision-making skills, results driven indidvidual
- Familiarity with procurement tools and systems
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Good understanding of budgeting and financial principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
