We're thrilled to announce an opportunity for a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Senior S106 Monitoring Officer. In this role, you'll leverage your in-depth experience in planning work within a Local Planning Authority or your equivalent experience in monitoring processes related to developments or legal agreements. You'll be integral in managing and improving our planning services, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include handling a complex caseload, implementing new procedures, and leading service improvement projects to enhance efficiency and cost savings.

About you
You bring demonstrable experience in general office practices and procedures, particularly in the use of computers, and some experience with computer-based mapping systems. Your communication skills are top-notch, allowing you to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders. You're proficient in PC-based applications like Word, Excel, and Access, and your literacy skills enable you to write clear, concise reports.

You're highly organised, capable of planning, prioritising, and managing your workload to meet targets and deadlines. You're adept at using your initiative within established procedures and guidelines, and you're skilled at maintaining accurate manual and computer-based records. You can read and interpret maps and plans, use a scale rule, and understand and resolve financial queries effectively.

You have a degree in Town and Country Planning, an equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience. Your command of Town Planning principles and the Enforcement provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act is solid. You're knowledgeable about Local Planning Authority responsibilities, including Development Control procedures, and you can write and present complex, concise, and accurate reports containing specialist, technical, and strategic information.

You're proactive in identifying and addressing discrimination in service delivery or the workplace. Additionally, you're physically capable of attending, traversing, and making visual inspections on sites and attending meetings throughout the Borough.

We can't wait to welcome you to our team and work together towards building a better community. Let's achieve great things together!

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
