Summary

The successful candidate will be joining the Major Projects function, a small but focused projects team that deliver several of the complex, high value and diverse range of projects including New Build, New technology introductions, refurbishments, and infrastructure upgrades. Porterbrook works to deliver improvements for customers and passengers that add tangible value. The team is part of the Operations Directorate reporting to the Chief Operating Officer Companies, suppliers and internal Porterbrook processes. Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day support of the Maintenance Services project team

Responsibilities
Safe Operation of Porterbrook-Owned Rolling Stock
Support in ensuring vehicles are suitable for safe operation on the railway system, with due consideration to Porterbrook’s lease obligations
Support in the review of National Incident Reports identified as affecting applicable rolling stock and coordinate the implementation of remedial actions as necessary
Support in the management of maintenance specifications to ensure that no undue risk is imported on to the running railway
Support in recording vehicle modifications and following the required engineering change process
Project Support
Responsible for administrative tasks, along with other functional support requirements as deemed necessary
Support the Project Managers in the execution of their projects. To include, but not limited to, attending meetings and producing meeting minutes, producing project governance documentation, such as project execution plans and workbooks
Administration of contract variations and commercial recovery exercises during the project lifecycle
Provide support to the Programme and Project Managers with the collation of their respective monthly L2 and L3 report
Support in the maintenance of comprehensive project documentation
Prepare and support the Project Managers as required in the preparation and distribution of weekly reports

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
This is an entry level position ideally suited to a graduate looking to develop in project management in an engineering environment, working through a profiled route of career advancement

Qualifications
HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business Management or equivalent demonstrated experience

Knowledge
Basic knowledge of project management, ideally in rolling stock
Knowledge of railway industry rolling stock, organisation and rail stakeholders would be advantageous
Basic knowledge of contractual obligations and operating lease agreements
Basic knowledge of rolling stock maintenance
Basic knowledge of project management methodologies would be advantageous
Awareness of safety cases, certification issues, railway risks and group standards

Key Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Report writing and presentation skills
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Commercial/contractual awareness
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
