About the role.



This is an exciting, fixed term opportunity to join our entertainment team covering parental leave, where you will deliver a daily
quota of engaging stories within deadlines, report breaking news and major events swiftly and accurately, and ensure top-quality
content for our customers.




You will be responsible for working across PA’s Entertainment services to customers, including the main wire and digital
subscribers. You will also be responsible for overseeing copy when needed, as well as gathering and producing multi-media content
alongside the Entertainment team.




This role is offered on a fixed-term basis up to September 2025. However, all employees have the opportunity to apply for internal
vacancies across the group. We are proud to prioritise internal mobility, with 25% of our roles in 2023 being filled by current
employees.



**Please note - due to the nature of the entertainment schedule, you will be required to work shifts, including weekends and
evenings.**




Key Responsibilities



* Deputise for the Entertainment Editor when required, which will entail assisting in the day-to-day running of the Entertainment
department and all its output on the wire, digital and other services
* Experience in a breaking news environment, as well as experience in line management
* Cover stories, events, conduct interviews and produce multi-media content as required in the correct style for PA customers
* Work closely with the team and contribute to the overall output of the department across PA Now, Create and Ready, for the
wire, online, video and social media
* Contribute and ensure that PA Entertainment is an active and enthusiastic champion of the PA’s social strategy, and that
social-led content forms a key and timely component of Entertainment services
* Monitor sources for breaking and interesting news and developments
* Create original content, including news stories, picture-led pieces and more as required
* Track performance of content to aid understanding of audience habits
* Assist in the overseeing of entertainment content, ensuring that the best and most relevant content is produced at all times
* Attend press events and launches in order to source exclusive/original content for the wire, digital and other services
* Help manage/suggest content using social media sources such as TikTok and Instagram
* Work as part of the weekly and weekend rota as required and to follow the shift pattern as set out by the Entertainment editor
* Oversee daily news list and work alongside Entertainment Editor in running of the list for the day, assigning stories and
briefing members of the team where necessary.
* Manage and update holiday lists and rotas as required.


What you will need



You’ll have journalism training ideally working in entertainment and digital journalism, with experience at a senior level.
Possess current knowledge of media law, a minimum of 100 wpm shorthand, excel under pressure, hold an NCTJ or equivalent
qualification and demonstrate the ability to verify and source social media content.
