This is a new and varied post within the UK Export Strategy Team in the Domestic and International Markets and Exports Directorate of DBT. We want to develop a new export performance framework that create a clear performance metrics of our export operations globally and a management and accountability mechanism in support with the aim of adjusting policies and services to drive exports.

You will have exposure to Directors, Ministers and senior officials and will gain high-level, strategic decision-making experience, as well as leadership stretch.

You will be responsible for:

  • Project leadership: creating and delivering this exciting new project with agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints as well as providing effective leadership and key performance management controls.
  • Stakeholder management: identifying and managing internal stakeholder relationships, both in the UK and abroad, and assessing the need for senior level support.
  • Analysis: working closely with analytical colleagues to develop and then maintain / iterate the framework.
  • Risk management: identifying and monitoring project risks and issues, aligning with other projects.
  • Communications: leading the delivery of regular reporting mechanisms to senior leaders and boards.
  • Performance management: monthly and quarterly performance management reporting to senior leadership.
  • Governance: supporting effective governance and decision making and reporting to senior leaders.
  • Sharing expertise and successes’: identifying, developing and sharing best practice processes, tools and templates within the team and across the Department.
  • Budget: budget management
  • Other: ad hoc duties required by the role, such as time critical requests from DGs, planning and prioritising your and your team’s work as needed.
  • Management responsibilities: you will have a direct report.

We are looking for a proactive self-starter with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work on varied projects in quick succession.
