Summary

A supportive and welcoming secondary school in Brent, North West London, are looking for Learning Support Assistants for a September start. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working closely with students with Special Educational Needs, within a mainstream secondary environment. This will be a great opportunity to gain valuable experience working with children and young people. If you are interested in potentially going into teaching, counselling, psychology or working with young people in some capacity, working as a Learning Support Assistant could be a great entry point.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be primarily working with students aged 11-16. You will be working on a 1-1 and small group basis with students who need additional support, often with SEN or other additional needs. This role is best suited to someone who is patient, proactive and empathetic. The school are ideally looking for individuals with experience as an LSA (or similar support role) within a secondary school.

The school is looking to interview the first week of September. Please only apply for this position if you have full time availibilty from September 2024

Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with SEN within a mainstream secondary school
- Supporting students up to GCSE within various departments
- Working with students on a 1-1 and small group basis
- Running small group literacy intervention classes, and identifying which students would further benefit from additional support
- Encourage and fascilitate independent learning
- Supporting classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Helping to assess student progress and providing feedback

Requirements:
- A bachelors degree (minimum lower second)
- A desire to work with children and young people. and to support their learning
- Experience working with children aged 11-16 in some capacity
- A desire to work with students with SEN, and an undersanding of the types of barriers they may face
- Ability to build and form working relationships with students, parents and staff;
to work flexibly across professional and operational boundaries and to work as a
member of a team.
- Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise between conflicting demands
