The post holder will be centred on clinical and service development within maternal medicine. In conjunction with the maternal medicine lead consultant and associated multidisciplinary teams they will support the implementation of effective care pathways for pregnant women and birthing people from the Isle of Wight with complex medical conditions across the Wessex Maternal Medicine Network, with a key focus on addressing inequalities in all aspects of care.

Working in collaboration with the individual woman/birthing person and the Wessex Maternal Medicine Network, the post holder will assess, plan, implement and coordinate the maternity care pathway. You will develop appropriate care plans, organise clinic sessions, and conduct antenatal and postnatal ward reviews for inpatients. You will provide expert, specialist knowledge and resources for the high-risk women during their pregnancy, childbirth, and the post-natal period, including education to women, their families and health professionals.

Work closely with the Director/ Head/Deputy Head of Midwifery, maternal medicine lead Obstetrician and midwifery staff to ensure that systems are in place to support and facilitate the delivery of high-quality maternal medicine services in line with the agreed shared priorities for the Wessex Maternal Medicine Network.Liaise & work with local clinical specialists who provide care to pregnant or newly delivered women/ birthing peopleProvide specialist knowledge underpinned by theory relating to complex problems to assist resolution.Undertake education and training at Ward/Departmental level for all relevant staff in relation to maternal medicine.

Work with the Wessex Maternal Medicine Network Consultant Midwife and wider team to ensure care is provided reflecting local and national guidance.

Provide specialist midwifery advice to women and families requiring maternal medicine support

Maintains and updates databases, information, audits and resources in line with network recommendations

Fully contribute to development of new policies and guidelines and take responsibility for regular reviews of guidelines and policies relevant to specialty, to reflect evidence-based changes to practice.

Act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.Have responsibility and legal obligation to ensure that information processed for both patients and staff is kept accurate, confidential & secure in line with the Data Protection Act (1998) & the Security and Confidentiality Policy
