Summary

Art Engagement Officer - fixed term/secondment opportunity for 12 months due to funding

Salary: Band 8 £33,945 pro rata (£27,156 for 29.6 hours)

29.6 hours a week - Days to be discussed at interview but you may be required to work alternative days when events are taking place.

Your New Role

This is a great opportunity for you to plan develop and deliver exciting activities to engage the public with Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery's new art exhibition The Quietness of Feeling. Facilitate art workshop experiences around Portsmouth in local parks, cemeteries, and other outdoor locations to help people connect with the natural world and find the beauty and solace of trees. Produce online content to educate people about the history and value of trees to the environment and how they inspire art.

You will work with the Engagement Officer and the Curator of Art to deliver enriching engagement opportunities, provide collections access and interpretation, and produce educational materials and online content connected with The Quietness of Feeling exhibition. For the development and duration of the exhibition, we want to encourage as many people as possible to participate in creating their own tree-related art.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have significant proven experience in a similar cultural or heritage organisation and an excellent knowledge of art or natural history. Highly analytical you will have a strong attention to detail with an ability to understand, analyse, report on and present/visualise data in an engaging way whilst managing competing priorities and deadlines. You will have experience of delivering art/natural history engagement activities and working with the public.
