Summary

Project Lead/Commissioning Engineer | Remote, London & the South East | Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm | Additional hours may be required to suit the needs of the business | Evening & weekend on call – on a rota basis | £45,000 to £50,000 depending on experience

Our client is seeking a Project Lead/Commissioning Engineer. In this role, you will be critical in ensuring that fire alarm systems and other associated fire life safety systems are installed correctly to meet relevant standards and regulations. Work closely with Project Managers, Subcontractors, Customers and other key stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.

While specific requirements may vary, having a combination of education, hands-on experience and a strong technical skill set is essential for success within this role.

The following criteria are essential for this role

• Understanding of the installation and commissioning process for the systems being installed
• Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and address issues during the commissioning process
• Good ability to use PC and modern word-processing applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other key stakeholders
• Experience in commissioning high-end fire alarm systems such as Siemens, Gent, Notifier or Morley is a key requirement
• Knowledge programming cause and effect outcomes via system interfaces is highly desirable
• Knowledge of AOV systems, PAVA Systems, Warden Call Systems, Evacuation Systems & Security Systems would be an advantage
• You must have a valid UK driving licence

What will your role look like?

• Collaborate with design teams to understand fire alarm system specifications and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations
• Conduct site visits to liaise with clients, sub-contractors, and installers. Inspect ongoing installations to ensure quality, adherence to designs, and compliance with standards and regulations
• Perform comprehensive testing of fire alarm systems, including functional and integrated system tests. Collect documentation and submit it to head office
• Lead commissioning of fire alarm systems, verifying configurations, programming, and outcomes. Address and resolve any issues, collaborating with third-party installers and sub-contractors. Submit all record documents to the head office
• Generate and maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including test reports, compliance certificates, and as-built drawings. Ensure documentation is organised for inspections and audits
• Provide training to end-users and maintenance personnel on the operation and maintenance of the fire alarm system. Address questions and ensure familiarity with emergency procedures
