The successful candidates will ideally have some knowledge of topics that affect individuals seeking our help, including disability benefits, welfare rights, and other associated issues.

This role requires a passion for working with people and helping them through challenging situations. It provides great rewards but can be stressful.

Applicants must demonstrate the following -

At least one year of experience giving advice to the public is preferred in any capacity.

This role involves working in a busy environment across several channels. It can be stressful, requiring good common sense and the ability to use initiative. However, it is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced community team and help others.

A must: The ability to use sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of the problem and empower clients to help themselves whilst maintaining control and offering professional support using our varying forms of advice and privacy.

The ability to use own initiative and accurately record information using our CRM typing and research using our proven methods and website.

Some knowledge of completing welfare benefit applications is a bonus, as the role will require the suitable applicant to complete some applications for UC, PIP/DLA and other benefits, usually over the telephone with clients, depending on demand.

Knowledge and experience of working alongside other advice providers on the telephone or side by side, as well as excellent written and spoken English, are a must.

In addition, we require competent IT skills.
The role will require outreach delivery at our local drop-in sessions once a month.

Legal, social welfare/work or nursing experience would be a bonus, as the role crosses all three areas.

The successful applicants will receive a three-month trial and training salary above minimum wage, a good holiday package, and free counselling services.
