Summary

Full Time - 35 hours per week plus 7.5 hours Compulsory Contractual Overtime per week.
We are now looking for a Joiner to join our multi-disciplined maintenance team. You will be joining a team that provides exceptional customer services to an expanding world class estate.
The Opportunity:
Maintenance Services currently employ a mix of 85+ trades, semi-skilled and trade apprentice staff within its department who are responsible for the service and repair of over 500 buildings within the University of Edinburgh estate.
We now require a Joiner to join one of our multi-disciplined trade’s teams. You will be joining a team that provides exceptional customer services to an expanding world class estate.
You will have completed an appropriate Recognised CITB Craft Apprenticeship as a Joiner and carry a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Carpentry and Joinery (Construction) at SCQF level 6 or equivalent. A working understanding of minor works, alterations, refurbishments or new installations and significant experience of carrying out similar maintenance tasks within a complex estate is also essential.
The role is predominantly carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance using an electronic maintenance system via smartphone. It would desirable that the postholder has similar experience of this method of work prioritisation.
A driving licence is essential as there will be a requirement to drive University vehicles.
The Maintenance Services Team also operates an emergency call out rota which you will join on reaching 6 months service. You be expected to take part in 6 weeks out of the year.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Recognised CITB Craft Apprenticeship as a Joiner.
Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Carpentry and Joinery (Construction) at SCQF level 6 or equivalent.
Significant experience of carrying out similar maintenance tasks within a complex estate.
A working understanding of minor works, alterations, refurbishments or new installations
Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
