Summary


We have an exciting opportunity for a band 5 Occupational Therapist within our Mental Health for Services for Older People (MHSOP) inpatient therapy team.

You will need to be motivated and passionate about the recovery-focussed care of our older patients. The post is primarily based at Highbury Hospital working across Silverbirch and Cherry wards (although there may be some expectation to provide cover at Blossomwood, King’s Mill on some occasions).

You will be part of a very nurturing therapy team and will have the support of a Senior OT, with the opportunity to work with the wider MDT. MHSOP OTs also have the support of our Clinical Specialist OTs who run regular support forums and highlights CPD opportunities, alongside the band 5 development group for regular peer support.

As an occupational therapist you are a key member of the multidisciplinary team working in partnership with older adults, undertaking specialist occupational therapy assessments and contributing to multi-disciplinary treatment, care planning and providing leadership and supervision for support staff.

You will need to have a BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent. You need to be HCPC registered. It is essential that you have a positive attitude towards people with mental health needs and can demonstrate how your experience would support you when working with this client group, including knowledge of dementia and mental health with an awareness of occupational therapy assessments and interventions suitable for this clinical area.
