Summary

Support Worker for Respite Clubs, Edinburgh Yard
Role: Support Worker
Part time, permanent role
Hours: Friday and Saturday afternoons 1 to 6.30
Salary: £12.20 per hour
The Yard is an award-winning charity that runs adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families in Scotland. Since we opened in 1986, our services have grown significantly, but we will always retain our holistic approach and ethos of child-centred and child-led play services.
Do you get a buzz helping child and young people have fun and make friends then we may have the role for you.
If you are someone who understands the value of play, is creative, a real team player, and has experience working with disabled children and young people, we want to hear from you. Working in a small group you’ll help deliver weekly youth clubs based at The Yard Edinburgh. These services are for children and young people with disabilities and support is provided on a one to one basis.
Some of the key responsibilities are:
• Play an active role in the set up, delivery and development of play and youth work provision, in line with the organisations values, aims and policies
• Encourage and enable children and young people with a range of disabilities to play and socialise in an inclusive way
• To work with children and young people as individuals and as part of a team
• Maintain and develop professional relationships with parents, carers and other organisations
While we have opportunities on both Friday and Saturday afternoons, we can be flexible so you can either work one or both days.
The successful candidate may have experience working in childcare, early years, nursery, play, youth work or the care sector. Or you may be at college or university and seeking to gain skills and experience which will support you in your career.
