Position Overview:

The Royal College of Art (RCA) is seeking a highly accomplished and innovative individual to join the School of Arts & Humanities as the Associate Dean (Education). This full-time role supports the Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) in enhancing the student education experience, curriculum innovation, and academic excellence. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the interdisciplinary and collaborative ethos of the School, fostering a dynamic environment for achieving high standards in research-led teaching, curriculum, assessment, and student experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development:

Lead curriculum development, focusing on equity, sustainability, and collaboration.
Oversee programme delivery and develop postgraduate frameworks.
Ensure high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.
Strategic Innovation:

Develop strategies to enhance the taught portfolio and student experience.
Align academic provision with quality standards and promote continuous improvement.
Innovate course delivery, including blended and online learning.
Academic Leadership:

Promote a culture of high achievement and set educational targets.
Lead academic development and planning.
Prepare for external audits and manage performance across the School.
Collaboration:

Foster effective communication within the School and with external stakeholders.
Champion education policy and equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
Represent the School at various levels and develop external relationships.
Research and Knowledge Exchange:

Integrate new research into academic programmes.
Strengthen research-teaching linkages.
Support research initiatives and maintain a high-quality research output.
Management:

Assist the Dean with staff management, recruitment, and resource planning.
Line manage staff and ensure a positive health and safety environment.
Qualifications and Experience:

Proven record in a senior academic role enhancing the student education experience in art, design, and/or humanities higher education.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications, QAAHE Quality Code, curriculum innovation, and quality assurance.
Strong leadership and management skills with a commitment to equity and inclusion.
Experience in developing and delivering research-led teaching and curriculum.
A research-active academic with a track record of submission to RAE/REF.
