Summary
This is an exciting role for an early career or well established clinical or forensic psychologist looking to specialise in an incredibly niche and emerging field. The role is part of the National Deaf Services in reach provision and you will be involved in providing psychological support and interventions into an established Prison in reach programme. You will be part of the National Deaf service and wider Rampton psychology team which comprises two other national services, namely the National Learning Disability and National Women's Service as well as the regional Men's Personality Service and Mental Health services.
The Post-holder will provide a highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy service to the Hospital and specifically to the National High Secure Deaf Service and prison in-reach service. The NHSDS is a 10 bedded unit providing mental health care to men with a mental disorder and who are deaf. The role will also involve working into a range of Prison establishments providing psychological input as required.
The post holder will provide a specialist psychological assessment and therapy service to ward clinical teams within the Hospital. The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy and will offer advice and consultation on patients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, working autonomously within professional guidelines and Rampton Hospital’s policies, procedures and service priorities.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the team providing high quality clinical input to the National Service for the treatment of Deaf mentally disordered patients in a high secure setting, as well as delivering psychological in-reach work to Deaf individuals in the Prison system. This will involve providing high quality assessment and intervention on an individual and group basis to a ten bedded ward for Deaf mentally disordered male patients at Rampton; as well as providing psychological interventions to those referred via the Prison in-reach team.
Opportunities for training, supervision and support will be provided to consolidate clinical skills and to develop professional practice.
