Summary


East Sussex Healthcare Trust is seeking an enthusiastic midwife with an interest in antenatal and newborn screening and providing excellent evidence based care to women and their families.

As a deputy antenatal and newborn screening midwife you will support and deputise for the Specialist Midwife for Antenatal & Newborn Screening in leading the implementation of the national screening programmes within East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust. You will ensure that women and their babies receive the screening tests they request in line with national screening programmes. In addition, you will act as advocate for patients within the area, ensuring a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care.

We are a tight knit team working closely together to provide women and their families with high quality, evidence based midwifery care. You will need to be a highly motivated team player committed to improving and developing the service.

· Work closely with the Lead Obstetric Consultant for screening, HoM and the specialist midwife for screening to ensure that systems are in place which meet UK National Screening Committee Guidance UKNSC)

· Provide professional leadership and support and specialist knowledge relating to complex screening problems

· To work with the multidisciplinary team in order to provide uniform screening programmes

· To deputise for the Specialist Midwife for screening for the Trust at regional forums

· To provide screening education and training at ward/departmental level for all relevant staff.

· Support audit and ongoing analysis and evaluation of screening programmes in line with UKNSC recommendations and CNST requirements

· Contribute to the provision of an annual report for the trust Screening Board and the UKNSC

· Practice in accordance with the NMC Rules and Code of Practice

· Ensure that all data is collected and stored in line with the data protection Act (1998)
