We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Executive to join the Inward Investment team working for one of the UK's fastest growing and most exciting city regions. The team at MIDAS support businesses from the UK and International and assist them to open offices and create job opportunities for the people of Greater Manchester. This role is within Financial, Professional and Business Services - a core sector for Greater Manchester responsible for more than 20% of our total jobs and includes growth areas such as Fintech and Green Finance.
Our work is fast paced, internationally orientated, interesting and varied. The successful candidate will be super organised, experienced or interested in consultative sales and managing complex client needs. Have great attention to detail and be able to produce and deliver compelling pitches to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
The role involves admin that will include raising PO's, booking travel and co-ordinating events but the biggest skill is time and task management.
Support Business Development team by project managing the delivery of MIDAS services to new and existing investors to achieve annual targets for inward investment success and job creation.
Daily management of web/telephone and email-based enquiries, referring to relevant team for project management direction.
Undertake desk-based research to support proposition development and conduct lead generation activity.
Provide after-care support to new investors as directed by the team.
Monitor FDI alerts and other relevant sources of data to identify new investment leads.
Work with colleagues and partner organisations such as universities and Growth Company (GC) partners, help in the development and delivery of existing and new services to clients that increase value of proposition and customer services levels.
Develop personal knowledge of priority sectors, sector propositions, market trends to increase effectiveness in role.
Support team in general business development activity such as attendance at events, conferences, networking, client meetings, in-visits.
Support team in account management activity such attendance at meetings, maintaining records and management information on the CRM system and managing a small portfolio of accounts.
Adopt a collaborative and positive working style with all internal and external colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
Provide support to additional activities that may include Department for Business & Trade (DBT) initiatives and other corporate sponsorship activity.
About you:
Able to communicate and converse effectively with senior people in order to gain trust and confidence.
Focused, output driven and able to meet deadlines on a regular basis.
Personable, professional with high levels of probity and integrity.
Skills Required:
Ideally educated to degree level.
Capacity and aptitude to undertake research and collate information as required.
Project Management experience and good interpersonal/communication skills.
Experienced and confident in writing propositions/bids, creating presentations and writing reports.
An understanding of the sales process or experience within a sales or sales support role.
