About the Mildmay Hospital

The Mildmay UK is a 28-bed unit in which historically specialised in the provision of holistic, multidisciplinary rehabilitation and respite care for patients with a diagnosis of HIV. In 2020 Mildmay developed a new care pathway, specialising in providing holistic step-down inpatient care to people who are homeless. Patients are admitted from acute hospitals when medically stable, but homeless with a history of tri-morbidity, i.e., health, mental health and substance misuse needs. The Mildmay also has a Detox Pathway, providing stabilisation-based intermediate residential rehabilitation for unhoused people and/or are at risk of returning to the streets. These people have recently completed detox therapy for substance misuse and alcohol and require ongoing stabilisation.

Many people accessing the Mildmay’s services present with cognitive impairments due to range of causes.

Psychology plays a highly valued role within the Mildmay both in terms of direct client work as well as indirect work with the staff group.

The post holder will be employed by East London Foundation Trust, receiving supervision and line management in that organisation. Therefore the candidate will need experience of working autonomously whilst contributing to work with a range of senior clinicians.

The post holder would have access to a monthly ELFT neuropsychology supervision group. As the post holder is directly employed by ELFT they would also have access to all the usual NHS governance frameworks and support.
