The role of Senior Peer Support Worker was developed specifically for people who have lived experience of self-diagnosing, going through the assessment process and receiving a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition, as well as significant previous experience as a Peer Support Worker (PSW) will inspire others going through the diagnostic process, and increase awareness and acceptance of neurodivergence in London Borough of Newham.

The role will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users in order for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery process. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, they will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfillment of personally valued roles and connection to local communities. The PSW will lead and develop the Peer Support Services, co produce training and consultation with other team members, and help establish service links within the local community.

· To work as an integral and highly valued member of the service in facilitatingperson centred activities to inspire hope and well being.

· To support individuals in identifying personal goals and strategies to improve their quality of lifeand to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead.

· Through sharing aspects of own lived experience of accessingservices (i.e. going through the assessment process and receiving a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition, post diagnostic support) the PSW will aim to inspire others. The post holder willdevelop relationships based on mutuality so they can facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self- determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles.

· The PSW will work closely with team members, partner organisations and local communities to develop, through co-production, wellness-focused interventions that address the needs of those served including; resilience, shared support, social connections and community engagement.

· To deputise for PSW Borough Leads in relevant projects and meetings.

· To provide support to other service’s PSW’s, to help support people with autism and complex mental health issues.

· Provide training to PSW’s, staff and people who use the services. Support the recruitment, induction and provide shadowing opportunities for new PSW.

· This role offers flexible working arrangements.

· They will work with the Clinical and Operational Leads in supporting the continuous development of the service ensuring safe and effective practice upholding the Trust values with individual at the centre of all care delivered.
