Summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist to join our specialist Paediatric Neuropsychology service within the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust Department of Psychological Medicine. This is a 3-year fixed-term post at 1.0wte funded by Tom’s Trust, a leading UK children’s brain tumour charity.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within our well-established Paediatric Neuropsychology service to deliver evidence-based psychological interventions, neuropsychological assessment, consultation, and advice. The post-holder will work primarily with children and young people with brain tumours and their families as part of the wider paediatric neuro-oncology multi-disciplinary team.
The post offers a breadth of experience covering inpatient and outpatient paediatric clinical neuropsychological work, with elements of both assessment, therapy, and neurorehabilitation. It would appeal to someone wishing to gain or develop their clinical experience in paediatric psychology/neuropsychology, and to those wanting to gain clinical expertise required for the practice competencies of the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN).
The post can be appointed at a band 7 preceptorship working towards a band 8a position, or at a band 8a depending on skills and experience. Responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly, and supervision will be provided by a qualified Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychologist.
You will be fully embedded within our supportive and cohesive Paediatric Neuropsychology team and work closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues within the Oxford Paediatric Neuro-oncology service. You will sit within the wider Department of Psychological Medicine - an innovative and dynamic team of psychologists and psychiatrists co-located within the medical environment providing services to patients across the lifespan. The department has close links with the Oxford Doctoral Course in Clinical Psychology and regularly contributes to teaching and supervision of trainees.
To provide a highly specialised paediatric clinical psychology/neuropsychological service to children and young people with brain tumours, including assessment, intervention, and consultation, participating in relevant service development and research, and undertaking supervision and training. To work autonomously as an independent practitioner within professional guidelines and the service’s policies and procedures, fully accountable for professional actions, and collaboratively with other professionals in health, education, and social services.
