There are approximately 5000 new symptomatic referrals each year in one stop diagnostic clinics. The surgical team consists of 5 consultant oncoplastic breast surgeons, an associate specialist breast surgeon, a senior Oncoplastic fellow, two advanced nurse practitioners and a GP with extended role in breast disease management. The unit has an excellent reputation for training and has 1 specialist registrar, 1 core surgical trainee, and 2 foundation doctors.

Oncoplastic breast conservation surgery is offered to all suitable patients including a range of therapeutic mammoplasty techniques and chest wall perforator flaps. Immediate breast reconstruction is available for all appropriate patients, as per NICE guidance. Sub-pectoral and pre-pectoral implant-based reconstructions are offered. Theatres have an implant bank including polyurethane-coated implants and acellular dermal matrix, as well as the Puregraft lipomodelling system. There is a well-established pathway for the referral of patients for DIEP and TUG free flaps at the regional plastics unit at Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT).
