SIPS Education is a not-for-profit organisation based in West Bromwich. Our knowledge of local communities in the area makes us unique as a specialist support services provider in the education sector to the Black Country and the wider West Midlands.

The SIPS Education Catering team is looking to recruit to a new post - a School Food Co-ordinator - to work within the established professional Catering Team, which provides comprehensive catering services to Primary, Secondary and Special Schools.

We are looking for a motivated and innovative catering professional with experience in the area of food development.

The post is 32.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday with an 8.30am start, working during school term-time plus two additional weeks during the school holidays.

Under the direction of the Catering Service Managers, your key responsibilities will include:

Menu planning to meet the School Food Standards in line with specific school requirements and our agreed budget.
Using our established online food management system to create and maintain recipes, menus, allergens, nutrition and costs.
Managing the day-to-day school food supply, which is key to the delivery of our service, working with suppliers and school kitchen-based teams to achieve solutions.
Leading on the sourcing of new and innovative food solutions and maintaining buying lists.
Creating menus suitable for specific dietary requirements.
Engaging with schools and pupils to share SIPS’ food vision and ethos to support them to make informed choices.
Training school-based teams to ensure technical food compliance and encourage best practice.
Supporting our ongoing digital and sustainability transformation and projects in food-related matters.
We are looking for a School Food Co-ordinator with:

An NVQ 3 or equivalent / at least two years’ experience in a food development / management role.
Excellent knowledge of legislation relating to school food provision.
Minimum of NVQ 2 or equivalent in practical cookery.
And who is:

Self-motivated and experienced in catering leadership and training.
Able to translate ideas and information through to operational catering application.
A clear and precise communicator.
