We are seeking a Housing Services Assistant to work in our Housing Services Team which gives advice and assistance to people who are homeless or who are threatened with homelessness. With support from the team, you will be working closely with homeless people, helping them to be safe and happy in temporary accommodation.

The role will involve providing hands-on support to the Housing Team, particularly around the temporary accommodation that is provided to homeless people. This may be a flat, house or room provided by the council to a homeless person or family, for a short time while the Housing Team helps them move onto a more secure home.

You will be helping vulnerable people from all walks of life, which may include the very elderly, whole families or a young person that has left foster care. This means that the job will be different every day, which makes it both challenging and varied. One thing for sure – you will always be learning, and the work is never boring!

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

- Resolving practical problems for people in their temporary accommodation, for example if something is faulty, then it will be your job to liaise with our property services team to arrange a plumber or electrician.

-Setting up and managing electronic files for all of the Councils temporary accommodation.

- Working with the Housing Services Team to help people complete the paperwork required to enable them to move into and out of temporary accommodation. This may be assisting with license agreements, inventories and liaising with the Council property management agency to ensure all check are carried out.

-Liaising with internal and external partners involved in the management of temporary accommodation.

-Amending and issuing of welcome packs to households entering temporary accommodation.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
