The Opportunity

As our next Commissioning Cyber Security SME, you will be a vital member of the Commissioning team. You will collaborate closely with the Site Security and central Nuclear Services teams to support the installation and commissioning of I&C plant systems at the HPC site. Additionally, you will drive the implementation of the HPC Cyber Security strategy, effectively mitigating cyber security risks and protecting critical I&C systems from malware to maintain their integrity throughout construction.

What you will be doing…

In this role, you will offer strategic and technical guidance to the broader commissioning team and other stakeholders, enhancing the effectiveness of the project's cyber security assurance during the commissioning phase. This role aims to significantly expand and deepen the capabilities within the project's cyber security community. Other requirements of this role include:


- Offer SME advice on practical cybersecurity rules not covered in the Commissioning Security Plan, such as guidance for malware checks on devices, device storage, and password management.
- Support the management of temporary modifications on site with cyber security expertise.
- Provide cyber security input for managing design changes and I&C configurations.
- Develop and implement procedures for security checks of safety I&C cabinets during installation and commissioning phases.


- Conduct risk assessments for I&C systems using the HPC security risk methodology and recommend controls to mitigate cyber risks, while managing ongoing I&C cyber security risks.
- Ensure adequacy of site security arrangements by suppliers, including storage on-site, cabinet access, and installation processes.
- Assure the security state of I&C systems as they are delivered to the site.
- Support ongoing assurance of supplier arrangements for IT and at HPC during construction, installation, and commissioning.
- Assist Nuclear Services security teams in producing I&C cyber security cases by providing information about site I&C security arrangements and assurance activities.


Who you are…

To be suitable for this position, we’re looking for you to hold a degree in a related subject or equivalent experience. We’re also looking for you to have a have a solid understanding of OT risk management, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities, along with a good grasp of I&C systems design and operation. We want you to be confident in your abilities, along with the capacity to deliver in a dynamic environment, and excellent communication skills to establish effective working relationships. Other requirements of this role include:


- Extensive experience in assuring and reviewing Information/Operational Technology systems (e.g., ICS/SCADA/Smart Devices)
- In-depth knowledge of information security standards (e.g., ISO27000, NCSC, GDPR)
- Familiarity with industrial cyber security standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST SP)
- Eligibility to obtain NSV SC Clearance
- Hands-on experience with I&C systems design, commissioning, or operation in a nuclear plant environment
- Cyber security and information assurance experience in a large infrastructure project environment
- Relevant professional certifications or equivalents, such as ISC2 CISSP or GIAC GICSP
- Experience working in high-security environments and demonstrated expertise in managing large projects
